Manhattan Ring
18ct yellow gold and lapis lazuli cocktail ring
This mega cocktail ring draws its inspiration from the eponymous Manhattan cocktail, one of the real classics of the cocktail world. Whilst the liquid version is made from vermouth, whiskey and bitters, our version is hand-crafted in 18ct yellow gold and lapis lazuli to represent the Manhattan skyline at dusk (cue cocktail hour!). Here, the deep blue lapis lazuli band mirrors the early night sky, and the overlaid silhouette of the buildings recall the golden light of the bulbs shining within. The effect is that of a magical miniature townscape on your finger.
This ring is available in UK size N/O, but can be resized to finger size M or smaller for an additional fee.
It has featured in such publications as JCK Magazine and Vanity Fair Magazine.
Cocktail rings first emerged in the jazz-age of the 1920s as a symbol of opposition to Prohibition. During that time, an alcoholic cocktail was about as rebellious a status symbol as you could get. Making sure that everyone noticed your illicit drink was equally important – particularly for women – who were beginning to challenge their proscribed role in the home and society. The cocktail ring – in all its colourful, blinging glory – was thus invented as an emblem of female independence and became the perfect accessory at secret parties in towns and cities across America.
