Flying saucer ring
18ct yellow gold, garnet and tourmaline cocktail ring
In Tessa’s world wearing sweets is as fun as eating sweets. That’s why she created a collection of jewellery all about them. Called Fat Free, it explores the way in which low cost and perishable goods, such as penny sweets, can become the source of inspiration for timeless, fine jewellery.
The Flying Saucer Ring is one of many cocktail rings from this colourful and whimsical collection. It directly draws on the name and form of the sherbert-filled flying saucer sweet, popular in Tessa’s youth. Hand crafted in 18ct gold, this statement ring is set with a central red garnet cabochon surrounded by a halo of pave-set green tourmalines – the latter detail being a playful representation of an UFO’s ‘halo of lights’.
The Flying Saucer Ring makes a particularly good hand candy for those who don’t like their cocktail rings too big, or are looking for a creative, design-led everyday ring that can work as well with denim as a little black dress.
