Pansy Earrings
9ct yellow gold, antique metal and amethyst flower earrings
These gorgeous, one-of-a-kind flower earrings are made using up-cycled painted metal petals, found in an antique market store. Lovingly restored, they are now the centrepiece for this lovely floral jewel, along with a pair of striking purple amethysts.
Pansies originate in name from the word ‘pensee’, meaning ‘thought’ in French. Since ancient times, these flowers have been a symbol of remembrance, with many likening a wilting pansy to the form of a small person deep in contemplation. Pansies are also symbolize nostalgia as well as faithful lovers separated by distance or circumstance. In the language of flowers, these beautifully vivid specimens mean ‘forbidden love’.
Although statement in size, the Pansy Earrings are actually surprisingly lightweight due to their base-metal petals. They are also made with clip fittings to keep them safe and secure on the ear, and to stop them rotating when worn. We can imagine these earrings looking incredible with something as simple as a tailored white shirt and denim jeans; a summer dress on a hot holiday; or a richly-hued cocktail dress at a stylish formal occasion. They really are universal earrings, working in any setting with any outfit. And because they are one-of-a-kind, you can be guaranteed that no one else will be wearing them!
