Botanics at the British Museum

To celebrate all things botanical during Enchanted Garden week, a select number of guests were invited to enjoy a private, behind-the-scenes tour of the Prints and Drawings Room of the British Museum. Holding over two million works of art, the Prints and Drawings Room is home to some of the country’s most precious works on paper, including a number of seminal botanical themed pieces.

Led by head curator Hugo Chapman, the took guests chronologically through a number of the Museum’s most notable acquisitions, starting with a superb Durer watercolour of a pine tree and van Dyck study of weeds, ending with a series of contemporary Sidney Nolan drawings. Other favourites included a book of over ninety hand-coloured, hand-cut flower collages by Mary Delaney and etchings by Michael Landy.

TP and the TP London team would like to thank the Museum for their generous time and attention.
